The Hourglass

This is a story that I have started and set aside/lost interest so long ago (probably in the beginning of 6th grade) that I accidentally forgotten the original story line XP my bad. Now I reread it, and it sounds a bit weird...ah wells. Still, I'd like you to take a look at it, and if you have any comments, please leave some =] thanks.

Prologue

It was a cool night, the full moon shone brightly. A boy stood at his porch, staring out at the starry sky. He was tall, slim, with sharp features and cold, dead eyes and dark short hair. Sighing, he turned and called, "Time to go, Rokaan."
Without making a sound, a fifteen-year-old boy identical to the first stepped out from the shadows.
"Who will be the next one, Rokamar?" Rokamar smiled. It was a cold smirk that would chill anyone's bones should they look that instant.
"This person is our worst enemy...and our best ally."

An hour later, the twins were hidden in a tree in the Royal Garden. Their target was reading at the window, a beautiful girl in a white gown with long hair and blue eyes. The twins were armed to the teeth. Rokamar peered at her, stripped of all human emotions. Rokaan held a dagger, ready to strikel They waited patiently until the girl blew out the candle and went to bed. Quick as lightning, and light as a feather, the twins swung temselves into the bedroom. Rokamar took out a thin rope and tied it to Rokaan's dagger. They binded the other end of the rope to the girl's wrist. The twins then dipped the blade of the knife into a container full of snake venom. Holding back an evil chortle, Rokaan dropped the flashing dagger right at the girl's throat.

Immediately, blood splattered everywhere, followed by a gurgling cry. The brothers too off for the window. No sooner had they jumped back to the tree, people burst from the door into the room. Terrified screams and gasps erupted from every corner.

While people started calling for help, two pairs of shining eyes watched the chaos their owners have created.

Chapter One:    Kiriya.

The scorching sun sent blinding rays of sunlight through the city of Xingoda. The desert city showed no signs of life except a few stray cats lurking around the alleys.

Everyone was in the houses, hiding from the heat, all except Kiriya. She sat in the Royal Garden, grieving for her sister, Jemina. Jemina was found dead in her room in the middle of the night. The body of her dear sister showed presented a possibility that Jemina had killed herself, and everyone bought it.
But it would take a lot more to fool Kiriya.
She knew that the murderer had tried to make the scene look suicidal. She told her parents, the King and Queen, but none listened. Kiriya cursed. She swore
that if she ever found her sister’s murderer she’ll strangle them with her bare hands. Kiriya’s mind was full of past memories, her sister’s pale, beautiful, elegant form. Next to all those thoughts like an active volcano, boiling fury rose steadily up to the surface. They all merged together into one solid bar of hatred with one word stamped upon it: revenge.

From now on, she shall live only to avenge Jemina, nothing else. Then an idea formed in her mind. Kiriya’s thin lips curled slightly at the edges, forming an icy, bitter smile. What an idiot she had been! Who else would like to kill her sister other than that…that…imbecile? She jumped up and was gone in a blink of an eye.

Kiriya scanned the crowd one by one. She was in the market for hours, yet her target have not appeared. She stomped her foot in annoyance. Then, he emerged out of nowhere. He glanced around nervously, and slipped away as quietly as possible, without much success. Kiriya smirked and followed him silently.

Mahoney scampered down an alley, looking back every few seconds. Finally, he turned around and backed up a few steps. At the thried step, he hit something – soft. His heart skipped a beat, then started thumping at an uncontrollable rate. Turning around slowly, he saw an attractive girl, holding a gleaming spear.
“Boo!” the girl said, and swooped down. Mahoney sucked in his breath.
“Kiriya.” He whispered.

Kiriya lunged at Mahoney, thrusting her spear tip at his throat.
“I want revenge!” she shrieked. “You killed my sister!”
Mahoney gulped. “W-What?” he squeaked.
“Don’t try to distract me!” Kiriya barked. “You will pay for what you did! You’ll wish that you have never been born!”
